If you have recently started out in business, or if you’re looking to raise the profile of your existing business, it can be difficult to know where to start. Luckily NottsPR is here with some handy tips. You can thank us later.

  1. Social media & the internet

Social media is such a powerful tool in today’s world, and if you run a business, it is an important thing to be apart of. The most essential social media accounts to have are a Facebook page that people can like, and a Twitter account. (If you want to be even more social media active, Instagram, Linkedin and maybe even Snapchat can be useful!)

It’s vital to be regularly active on these accounts as well. Set a small amount of time a day to updating and communicating on your social channels. You can chat about things like offers, new products and your lovely employers. If you’re stuck on what to write, trending hash tags like #ThursdayThoughts, #TravelTuesday and #FridayFeeling can be good to include. (These make for easy content creation if you’re ever feeling a little uninspired!)

Generally, the more active you are on social media, the more popular your account will be. It’s important to engage with customers as well, as this will raise your profile on social media even more.

  1. Events

Depending on the nature of your business events can be a great thing to do. Admittedly, they can be a hassle to set up, but they are incredibly worth it as they are fantastic PR for your business.

It doesn’t matter how small or large your business is, events can be great for everyone. A good example of this is local coffee shops running acoustic evenings for local musicians, or a small hairdressing salon running a blogger event for local hair and beauty bloggers. No matter how big or small your business is, there’s always a business opportunity in events!

  1. Offers

Everybody loves a bargain, and sometimes what entices customers to a business if deals and offers. Offers are also a great thing to use because they give you some content for social media as well.

  1. Flyers and posters

Sometimes in this digital age it’s easy to neglect good old fashioned publicity strategies such as flyers and posters.

These can actually be a great way for people to get their business out to more people. It’s important to remember that not everyone uses social media. You can optimise your business awareness by placing posters in windows and by handing out flyers with offers and deals.

  1. Don’t be afraid to advertise

As long as you know what your aim is, don’t be afraid to invest a little money in advertising. Facebook advertising can be really effective because you can target specific people. For example, if you are a wedding dress shop based in Nottingham, you can advertise specifically to women who are engaged that live in Notts and around the East Midlands.

  1. Joint ventures

Joint ventures with other businesses and people can be great as you can access their network and in return get a percentage of sales. It’s also a good way to find potential customers.

This can include collaborating with bloggers or partnering up with another business.

  1. A PR agency might be able to help

If you’re looking to raise awareness of your business regionally or nationally, but just don’t have the time to, why not call in a PR agency? We’d loved to help!
